This is superb guys and really similar to how we got ourselves funded and on the road.

When you go through all of your outgoings and think “what can I do without?” and attempt to find free alternatives; you can make a huge saving.

Thanks! You don’t really need much to survive and as long as you keep your goal in mind, it will all be worth it.

We sold all of our CD’s, which was pretty hard and gave a lot of clothes to charities. I found it really hard to let go of some of my stuff though. Luckily we were able to leave some of our furniture, clothes and kitchen gadgets in the loft of my mother-in-law. Now I have been without this stuff for almost two years though, I would be quite happy to sell it all. It is incredible how little you actually really need! I can’t even remember what exactly is in those boxes that we left behind.

You really don’t need much. We also had a difficult time getting rid of all of our stuff. We only kept the stuff with a sentimental value. When we were selling everything though, suddenly everything had some sentimental value and I would tear up thinking of that sweater I only wore once but I always liked so much. It’s crazy how much we value our possessions but when we live without them we don’t miss them at all.

I totally agree about saving money on groceries especially! We found that when planning ahead for the week, we ended up eating more economically, more healthy, much less food went to waste etc – it’s been really refreshing!
