Through Our Eyes // 12

- This oversized wintercoat has been keeping me warm
- We took some pictures for our friend who owns a vintage furniture shop
- This store is great. Good food, awesome branding.
- Somehow this bread took four hours in the oven before it was done.
- Nick taught our dog to walk without a leash. Best thing ever. Hands free dog walking!
- The ceiling of the National Maritime Museum in Amsterdam.
- Amsterdam and the National Maritime Museum.
Last year when we skipped winter because we were traveling in Asia, we missed it. The cold weather, the snow, staying indoors, short days. When winter came around we were incredibly excited, we bought winter coats, hats and gloves and we were ready to take this winter and love the hell out of it.
We waited and waited but no winter came. And now spring is already upon us. I can’t believe this was it! I didn’t even get to wear my gloves and the temperature went below zero on no more than two days. Not a single flake of snow!
And yet, spring feels like an awakening. The days are getting longer and when I ride my bike I hear birds singing their songs all around me. Nick said to me the other day “Babe, you’re like an excited puppy whenever there’s a sunny day” and I guess I am. I can’t wait for spring and summer and I’m already looking forward to next winter. Because who knows, we might get some snow next year.
How was your winter?

I have a love/hate relationship with winter. I only love it when it snows, but when it is just cold and rainy I don’t like it. I actually missed it though when I was living in Cambodia for two years, as there can be something magical about winter…

Christmas in the sun still feels kind of weird to me. I like the darkness of the short winter days.

Oh… if you’ve missed winter you should come to Winnipeg. Today on the radio they said it would be “a high of -22C” … Plus I haven’t’ seen this much snow in years. It’s piled up so high that it’s hard to drive; it’s nearly impossible to see over/past the snowbanks!

Noooo way! -22 is CRAZY

Ha! I guess you guys should have gone to the U.S. & Canada as you had originally planned if you wanted a crazy winter! I don’t think any of your readers from over there will have much sympathy for your snow-less winter blue… 😉
I was quite happy to avoid winter once again by continuing our travels through Asia. I do like a little bit of snow, and I’ll admit Christmas so far from home never feels like Christmas at all, but I love not having to deal with the hassles of a Canadian winter!

Hahah yeah! I shouldn’t be complaining, I know. But I just really missed the feeling of winter. Your nose freezing, frozen lakes, snow…the whole winter-package.

Now that winter is almost over, I can’t help but be excited for spring. Today I didn’t even wear a winter coat! A cold spell is nice, but a short, mild winter is the best in my books! 😀

We still didn’t have any winter! I missed it.

Ha, it’s been the same in London, haven’t had to wear hat & gloves once. But that was fine by me, I hate the cold 🙂 off to Copenhagen this weekend though so I think I’ll get a bit of proper winter there.
Love the look of the vintage furniture shop! Hope you have a good weekend!

I hope Copenhagen was awesome!

London has been surprisingly warm over the winter, although we had a lot more rain than usual. I’ve only had to get my gloves out once! I’m not a huge fan of cold weather but I still get excited when it snows so I do hope we get one small flurry before the weather gets hotter!

So far, no winter in sight here in Holland. How’s London? Any better?

Lovely photos. I especially like the one of the ceiling.
I has my first ever snow this winter travelling in America. No one could believe I hadn’t seen snow fall before.

Thank you so much!
